Psalm 91:1-2 (AMP)   ” He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty – Whose power no foe can withstand.

I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I confidently trust.”

  1. El Elyon – The Most High – The Pinnacle – The Most Powerful
  2. El Shaddai  – The Almighty – The All-Sufficient One – The Totality of all things
  3. Elohim – The Lord – The Ultimate Source
  4. Yahweh – God – The Holy One (so holy His name cannot be spoken

Psalm 91:3 – “Surely, he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.”

Psalm 91:4 – Then He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His Truth and His Faithfulness are a shield and buckler.

Confession – Admission of guilt

Metanoia – to reverse a decision; to change your mind or thoughts
Epistrepho – a change in direction – speaks of actions

Psalm 91:5 – “You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrows (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that fly by the day”

Psalm 91:6 – Nor of the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

Psalm 91:7 – A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you

  • Hebrews 8:6 – a better covenant

Psalm 91:8 – Only as a spectator shall you be (yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High) as you witness the reward of the wicked.

Psalm 91:9 – Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,

Psalm 91:10 – There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near you tent.

The Daily Examem – Ignatius of Loyola

  1. Reflect on and acknowledge where God was present to you.
  2. Be grateful for each God encounter. (Consolation or Desolation)
  3. Pay attention to note your emotions (joy, awe, fear etc.) during each encounter
  4. Pick a specific feature of the day and pray for discernment from it.
  5. Look toward tomorrow with expectation b/c “His mercies are knew every morning” – Lamentations 3:22-23

“Resting in God” – Allowing yourself to be powered by the internal Presence of God and not the fear that’s generated by the “storms of life.”
