Purpose For Wilderness Time

1. Develop trust, faith, love, humility, and dependence on God

2. Become a habitation for the Lord

Peace – (Hebrew) Shalom – a deep sense of wholeness and well-being, clarity of purpose and worth.

Philippians 4:7 – Peace that contains with it a transformative ability for the mind to perceive reality from God’s perspective  —  which is PERFECT.

Perfect Tense – Action that is finished thus complete and PERFECT

Imperfect Tense – Action that’s unfinished thus incomplete – IMPERFECT

Our Salvation through Christ is a PERFECT work from which we can live in victory! – PR

“It is finished!” – John 19:30, Mark 15:37

Leviticus 19:2 – “You shall be holy…”  – a Decree and a Promise, not a command.

Holiness – A state of common – union with God.

Sacrifice – To kill or slaughter for a purpose.

Hebrews 13:15 – We offer a sacrifice of praise through which we kill our pride or our fears or anything that hinders our worship of God.

Psalm 22:3 – God inhabits the praises of His people:

  1. We experience fellowship with Him.
  2. In fellowship, we become one with Him.
  3. Our original relationship is restored – we are restored.

– “The darkness of your present circumstances can be an opportunity for your “Light” to confront it and have you experience overcoming it.”  – PR
– “We don’t deny the darkness of our circumstances – we just don’t agree with them or concede any ground to them.” – PR
The “Glory” — the reflected purpose of Heaven to the Earth; an illumination that reveals what is hidden in darkness.
Vs 41 – Jesus lifted His eyes and gave thanks!

A Prophetic Instruction

  1. Call on the Lord and wait – his timing is perfect.
  2. Look past your circumstances and belief systems not agreeing with their projected outcomes
  3. Lift your eyes and “SEE” with the night vision (John 11:9) of His Spirit who lives within you.
  4. Receive what you SEE – allow your heart to be illuminated by God
  5. Give thanks to God and worship Him
  6. Call others out of their “tomb” of darkness
  7. Loose them from their grave clothes
  8. Cover them with the holy garments of the Love of God

The Truth  — To act and speak in a way that rings true at the core of our being. To do the “right thing just because it’s “the right thing.”The Life — The Kingdom of God fully realized and manifested in a person.

 Stages of Christian Maturity – Bob Jones

  1. Justified by Faith – get “saved/born again” – just as a baby is born
  2. Sanctified – Learn how to be a Christian – like “potty training”
  3. Signs and Wonders Stage – Begin to become profitable to the Kingdom. – “Hit and Miss”
  4. Maturity/Discipleship – Died to self enough that Kingdom authority can be released and the Lord is seen in you.

Disciple – One who has decided to be with another, under appropriate conditions, in order to become capable of doing what that person does or to become what that person is.  An apprentice.

Becoming a Disciple of Jesus – is not a matter of learning to do everything He did but learning to do everything I do in the same manner in which He did all that He did.

It’s learning to live my WHOLE life, my ACTUAL life, as He would live it – if He were I.

On the Job Discipleship

  1. Don’t be the “moral police” – no nagging
  2. Be gentle but firm in non-cooperation with things everyone considers wrong.
  3. Work to develop an inward attitude of prayer for the activities of the job.
  4. Develop a genuine love for the people you interact with.
  5. Employ specific points of Jesus’ teachings as circumstances dictate (i.e. – non-retaliation; no gossiping).
  6. Be watchful and prepared to meet any obvious spiritual need with words of comfort, encouragement, and acts of kindness.

Questions to consider this week:

  1. Why am I a Christian?
  2. Where am I headed going forward?
  3. What’s my intention?
  4. What actual decision did I make to follow Jesus?
  5. Did I even make one?

Hallel Praise – to rave; to boast; to be clamorously foolish; to act madly before God.
Verse 20 – Prophetic/ Apostolic mantle
Verse 21 – Tehellah Praise – a spontaneous, prophetic song that speaks what is on God’s heart.

Psalm 22:8 – God came in their midst and set ambushes against the enemy.

  1. Truth -clear sight and discernment
  2. Spirit — The graces of divine empowerment

Ekklesia – The “called”
Matthew 22:14 – “Many are called but few are chosen…”
Passion – “For everyone is invited to enter in, but few respond in excellence.”
Chosen – Eklektoi – worthy, pure, excellent
Excellence – done passionately and to the best of one’s ability.

The ” New Song” –

  1. the sound of God’s unquestioned authority sung-through His people.
  2. Accompanied by a “Death-knell” Selah over the enemy.
  3. Declares, “God is present” in Zion

Human Prophesying – Deducing what God wants and commands from a natural perspective.
Spirit generated Faith Prophesying – Speaking a word that releases a solution:
Aggressive intercession instead of condemning hostility. – Redemptive, not destructive.

Mature prayer – we ask God to help change us and cede control to Him believing in His goodness and love.

Three Goals of Mature Prayer

  1. To help reconcile ourselves with the human condition of life.
  2. For courage and humility to repent of sin.
  3. To recover a sense of awe of the intricacies of God’s creation and our part in it.

Thirst

It doesn’t have to be a blue iris
